On December 27, Wudongde Power Station, the national key project of west-east power transmission invested by Southern Power Grid Company, was officially put into operation for power transmission to Guangdong and Guangxi UHV multi-terminal flexible DC Demonstration Project (referred to as Kunliulong DC Project), half a year ahead of schedule.

The project has made a major breakthrough in scientific and technological innovation, and is the first UHV multi-terminal DC demonstration project in the country, the first UHV flexible DC project in the world, and the multi-terminal hybrid DC project with the highest voltage level and the largest transmission capacity in the world.


The project has created the world's first 19 power technologies, and the main equipment autonomy rate is 100%, which effectively promotes the high-end of the domestic related equipment manufacturing industry and the localization of equipment. The flexible DC key chip (IGBT) jointly developed by China Southern Power Grid and relevant domestic manufacturers has been successfully applied to the project, breaking the monopoly of a few foreign manufacturers.
